The Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics Services has won the ‘2019 Best Cargo Airline of Africa’ award, the Ethiopian Airlines announced on Monday April 29.
The airlines won the award after online voting was held and the airline in a statement said the prize is highly respected in recognition of the air cargo industry.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Tewolde GebreMariam was quoted as saying at the ceremony that the award is “a testimony to the leading role that Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services is playing in the socio- economic development in Africa and the rest of the world with safe, secure, dependable and competitive cargo and logistics services.’’
He added: “Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services has built the largest cargo terminal in Africa with an annual capacity of around one million tons and delivers cargo services spanning across 44 international destinations in Africa, the Gulf, Middle East, Asia, North Americas, Latin America and Europe”.
Moreover, with a rapid growth trajectory the Ethiopian Cargo and Logistic Services provide the industry leading supply chain management catalyzing the import and export economies of African countries, he added.
It envisions achieving an annual revenue of $2 billion annual and uplift capacity of 820,000 tons and serve 60 international freighter destinations with 19 dedicated freighters by 2025.
The Ethiopian Cargo and Logistic Services is Africa’s largest network cargo operator and multi-award winner.
