Charles Michel is expected in Dakar, Senegal, on Monday for a two-day official visit. The announcement made by the official website of the European Council does not give any further details on this visit, the first by the President of this body to Senegal since the election of Bassirou Diomaye Faye on 24 March as the fifth Head of State.
After meeting the new Senegalese authorities, the former Belgian Prime Minister will then travel to Côte d’Ivoire, where he will spend 48 hours before ending his tour in Benin for a day.
Created in 1974, the European Council defines the overall political direction and priorities of the European Union (EU), traditionally by adopting conclusions.
