Former head of Botswana’s Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) Isaac Kgosi appeared before a magistrate in the capital Gaborone on Wednesday to face charges of revealing the identities of intelligence operatives.
The former spy chief is charged under Section 19 of the Intelligence Security Services, which prohibits the disclosure of the identity of DIS workers.
Kgosi is accused of exposing and verbally assaulting the identities of two DIS operatives who were monitoring his movements sometime in February.
The former spy chief is alleged to have confronted the operatives when the followed him into a clinic in Gaborone and demanded that they be taken to the room where he was.
Kgosi is alleged to have responded by causing a scene at the clinic and telling those around that the two were intelligence operatives who had been sent to assassinate him.
