APA – Kigali (Rwanda) – The former goalkeeper of Rwanda’s national football team, Eric Ndayishimiye also known as Bakame on Tuesday confirmed that he was switching from playing to becoming a coach.
Ndayishimiye who played in the topflight leagues in Rwanda and Kenya has not indicated where he would be a coach.
He played for mostly the military side APR FC for four seasons (2009-2013).
During his four seasons with the 14-time champions APR, he helped the Black-and-White outfits to win three league and Peace Cup crowns in 2010, 2011 and 2012 respectively as well as the 2010 Cecafa Kagame Cup title.
He also helped the side to finish second in the 2012/2013 league campaign, reached the semi-finals of the Peace Cup as well as the final of the Cecafa Kagame Cup in Darfur, Sudan where they lost to Burundian side Vital’O.
Since early 2005, Ndayishimiye has featured for Rwandan national team categories, starting with the U-17 side in 2005, the U-20s from 2007 to early 2009 and the senior team from 2008 to his retirement date.
He has more than 60 national caps to his name.
Apart from playing and coaching football, earning a living and sustaining his family from it, the soft spoken Ndayishimiye is also a supporter of English Premier League giants Manchester United.
At international level, he supports France.
