Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) on Tuesday confirmed it has arrested pop singer Joshua Tuyishime Polly, better known by his stage name Jay Polly, for alleged illegal stimulant possession, investigative sources said here.
According to RIB, police found an important quantity gram of marijuana at his home and the police concluded that Tuyishime himself owned the substance, which led to his arrest.
In August 2018, Jay Polly was sentenced to five months behind bars for assaulting his wife.
Upon his arrest, Jay Polly denied the accusations but later cooperated in a statement, explaining that he beat his wife because he was drunk, before apologising to her for what happened.
During the past hearing, Jay Polly told the court that he wanted to be released as ‘a changed man’ so he can take care of his family, especially since he was planning to take his son to school next month.
Jay Polly started his music career in a group called Tuff Gang – which he is still a member to.
