Fastjet Zimbabwe on Thursday launched its inaugural flight between Victoria Falls and Botswana’s Maun in a development that will see the budget airline plying the lucrative route between the neighbouring countries’ premier resort towns four time a week.
Fastjet Zimbabwe spokesperson Nunurai Ndawana said the airline would ply the route on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
“We continue to strengthen Victoria Falls as a regional tourism hub and the introduction of this new flight service four times a week will connect two of southern Africa’s most sought-after destinations, the Victoria Falls and the Okavango Delta,” Ndawana said in a statement.
The new route is expected to provide connectivity between the two resort areas for tourists wanting to sample the top regional attractions.
The launch comes at a time when airlines are reviving routes where they had suspended flights at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic or are scouting for new destinations to boost their revenue flows that have been battered by travel bans over the past two years.
