The National Commissioner and Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Festus Okoye, said that immediate measures to ameliorate the situation, including the mopping up of some spare card readers from other states to deploy to Anambra State were already in progress.
He assured that with the steps taken so far, the commission was confident that elections in Anambra State would proceed as scheduled.
Okoye said that the fire incident was the third in the last 12 days, following closely behind those of Isiala Ngwa in Abia State and Qua’an Pan in Plateau State.
He said that the Commission had reported the incident to the police and the fire service and that investigations into the cause of the fire would proceed as scheduled.
