Morocco’s Renaissance Sportive de Berkane (RSB), who are the defending champions of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup, have been eliminated in the group stage of the competition.
RSB suffered a slender 1-0 loss to Zambian side Napsa Stars FC on Wednesday in Lusaka in the 5th and penultimate round of Group B matches.
Doisy Soko scored the only goal of the match in the 52nd minute.
The Berkanis missed several chances to score, especially in the first half, due to lack of concentration.
In the other group game, played earlier in the day, Cameroon’s Coton Sport lost at home to Algeria’s JS Kabylie by 2 goals to 1.
Coton Sport and JS Kabylie thus booked their places in the quarterfinals of the CAF Cup.
The Cameroon outfit maintain their lead in Group B with 9 points, ahead of JS Kabylie who have an inferior goal-average.
Renaissance Berkane are in third place with 5 points.
Napsa Stars are at the bottom with 4 points.
On the sixth and final day, RSB will host Coton Sport, while JS Kabylie will entertain Napsa Stars.
