Former Botswana president Ian Khama is set to announce the formation of a new party, according to media reports monitored here Wednesday.
The privately owned Mmegi newspaper reported on Wednesday that Khama has decided to sponsor a new party after falling out with President Mokgweetsi Masisi.
The name of the new party is yet to be confirmed, with the paper saying at least 10 names are being considered.
Another private paper, The Telegraph, also reported on Wednesday that Khama is expected to hold a meeting in his home village of Serowe where he is expected to announce the formation of the new political party.
Khama confirmed the meeting but would not be drawn into further details.
