The former Vice-President of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), Sory Diabate, died on Thursday, September 5, 2024, in France where he had gone for treatment.
Diabate, 62, was the President of the Professional Football League and his death will be mourned by the Ivorian football community.
A former ASEC player and founder of the Entente Sportive de Bingerville, he ran for the presidency of the FIF in April 2022, an election in which Didier Drogba also took part, but won by Idriss Diallo.
A football enthusiast, Sory Diabate held the positions of deputy general treasurer at the FIF and general secretary of the FIF.
He was 4th Vice-President of the FIF, 1st Vice-President of the FIF, FIFA Technical Delegate and FIFA Instructor.
