APA-Antananarivo (Madagascar) – The list of candidates for Madagascar’s presidential election must be announced by September 9 at the latest.
As part of the Organization Internationale de la Francophonie’s (OIF) support for the process leading up to the November 9, 2023 elections in Madagascar, its Secretary General, Louise Mushikiwabo, is sending a fact-finding and contact mission to Antananarivo.
In a press release received by APA on Tuesday, the organisation explains that the mission will be led by Mrs. Micheline Calmy-Rey, Special Envoy of the Secretary General to monitor the situation in Madagascar.
This second mission will be in Madagascar from September 3 to 6.
The observers will monitor developments in the electoral process and inform the various stakeholders of the OIF’s contribution to free, credible, democratic and peaceful elections in Madagascar.
“The Special Envoy and her delegation will be received by the country’s highest authorities and will also meet with political actors and representatives of Madagascar’s bilateral and multilateral partners. The mission will conclude with a working session with members of the Group of French-speaking Ambassadors,” concluded the OIF press release.
