Frenchman Alexandre Geniez won the fifth stage of the road cycling race Tour du Rwanda on Thursday covering a distance of 124,7km between Muhanga (South) and Musanze (North).
Riding for France’s Total Energies, Geniez won the fifth stage in 3 hours 12 minutes 14 seconds.
Geniez sprinted fastest in the last 50 meters to beat off the challenge of his compatriot B&B Hotel rider, Pierre Rolland and Benediction Ignite rider, Eric Manizabayo (Rwanda) by 19 seconds.
Geniez is also the winner of the first stage of the road cycling race earlier Sunday in Kigali city.
The 14th edition of Tour du Rwanda will cover a total distance of 937.1 kilometers.
The race has attracted 19 teams competing in eight stages across Rwanda.
