APA-Banjul (The Gambia) President Adama Barrow has appointed career civil servant Muhammad B.S. Jallow as The Gambia’s new vice president, according to a statemnt from the presidency in Banjul on Friday.
Jallow’s appointment which takes effect on February 24th, 2023, comes more than a month after the death while seeking medical attention in India of sitting vice-president Badara Alieu Joof.
Vice President Jallow is reputed to be an experienced Civil Servant who served in different capacities, from an unqualified teacher to a permanent secretary in several ministries.
He was also Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service before his statutory retirement in 2020.
Mr Jallow also represented his country at the Senegalo -Gambia Secretariat as Deputy Executive Secretary.
