APA-Windhoek (Namibia) Namibia’s President Hage Geingob has received the African Presidential Green Infrastructure Investment Statesman of the Year Award at the Africa Investment Earthshot Leaders Summit in Dubai.
Presidential spokesperson Alfredo Hengari said Wednesday that Geingob was honoured “in recognition of his outstanding contributions” as a promoter of green infrastructure investment.
“President Geingob became the second recipient of this award, organised by Africa Investor, and sponsored by the Africa Green Infrastructure Investment Bank since 2022,” Hengari said.
The awards recognise achievements across the main nationally determined contribution (NDC) project sectors and reward the governments, institutions, and individuals driving transactions and improving the investment readiness of Africa’s NDC projects requiring investment of US$3 trillion by 2030.
The awards have been sponsored by the Africa Green Infrastructure Investment Bank since 2022 and this year’s ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change that ended on Tuesday in Dubai.
