By this MoU, the Botswana FA will acquire much-needed technical expertise from the European country for the effective management and improvement of the game.
Football in Botswana has taken a hit in recent years since the country last appeared at the African Cup of Nations in 2012 and exited the tournament at the group stage.
In a statement on Wednesday, BFA said the anticipated highly skilled technical expert will assist Botswana with its current development program.
“The German Federal Foreign Office has expressed its support for Botswana Football development plan engaging in a long-term football project in Botswana. The German expert is expected to arrive in Botswana at the end of February this year and will then be presented to the media,” reads part of the release.
The German technical expert will assist the association to cover education, talent identification and retention as well as other technical projects at BFA.
The project is expected to take two years with an option to increase with a further two years.
Botswana’s soccer teams are currently struggling to perform above average in both continental and international tournaments.
