The Black Stars of Ghana on Friday defeated the Madagascar national team 1-0 in their 2026 World Cup qualifier played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Inaki Williams broke the deadlock in the 96th minute of the game with a powerful header to give the Black Stars the needed three points as the game ended 1-0.
The Head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton, who admitted that the match was very tough and frustrating, said after the game that strategic changes in the second half influenced the outcome of the match.
Hughton, however, believed that some crucial misses denied his team from recording a comfortable victory.
“We should have won the match more comfortably,” he said after the match.
According to local media reports, the only goal of the match was Williams’ first goal for Ghana after a goal drought spanning 800 minutes and 12 appearances since switching nationalities from Spain to represent Ghana.
