The Black Stars of Ghana defeated their Sao Tome and Principe counterpart by 3-1 in their last match of the AFCON 2022 to be hosted by Cameroon.
The match, which was played on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, saw Nicholas Opoku scoring in the 12th minute of the match to put the Black Stars ahead of their opponent.
The second goal came in the 30th minute from the spot kick taken by Jordan Ayew, who was brought down inside the 18-yard box for a penalty for the Black Stars of Ghana, while the third goal was scored in the 60th minute of the match by Baba Rahman.
The consolation goal for Sao Tome came in the 83rd minute through Jokceleny Ferandes and the match ended 3-1 in favour of the Black Stars, which had earlier booked their qualification last Thursday when they played a 1-1 draw with South Africa in Johannesburg.
With this victory, the Black Stars ended the qualification campaign at the top of Group C with 13 points, while Sudan placed second after beating South Africa 2-0 at the Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman.
