An Accra High Court has annulled the marriage between the former captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan and wife, Gifty Gyan and ruled that Gifty is entitled to some of the properties of the Ghanaian international.
In its ruling, the Court awarded Gifty a four-bedroom house, a gas station and 2 vehicles in Accra for her contributions to the marriage. The court also granted Gifty a house in the United Kingdom and cash totaling over £18,450 for various bills and expenses.
According to local media reports, Asamoah has to pay other bills including “bills in respect of groceries £1, 500, fuel-£250, calls-£50, clothing-£200 in arrears commencing July 2019 to September 2019 totaling- £6,000. Bills for MoT (Ministry of Transport) Tax and insurance for the year 2019.”
In addition, Gyan will also pay the educational expenses of his three children, including those in arrears from July 2018 to September 2019 covering (pockets money, school trips, books etc), amounting to £2,800.
Speaking on the judgment and the successful DNA conducted on the children, Asamoah said that he was happy to live his life and has no regrets marrying Gifty.
Asamoah Gyan told the Accra-based radio station, Asempa FM, that a lot of things came up for so many years during the marriage and he decided to do the needful by seeking the divorce.
According to him, there was a lot of evidence to support his petition in court asking for an annulment of the marriage.
“The reason why we went to the court was that, I annulled the marriage and my wish has been granted, because the things I unraveled were the truth,” the media reports quoted Asamoah as saying.
The retired footballer also said that he was currently concentrating on taking care of his children, “and that is the most important thing. I am very, very happy with my life, I am a family man, my children like and love me and I also love and like all of them and so that is where my focus is.”
