The Judicial Service staffers on Wednesday deserted the various court premises in Accra, following the indefinite strike, which began today nationwide.
The strike action was declared by of the Judicial Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG).
Mr. Alex Nartey, the official of the association told a news conference in Accra on Tuesday that the strike followed the failure by government to review their salaries.
He stated that the government had failed to implement the recommendations by a committee set up by the Judicial Council to improve their conditions of service.
“In view of the above, the leadership of JUSAG is left with no option, but to declare an indefinite strike action to demand the assenting and implementation of the Judicial Council Committee report,” Mr. Nartey said.
This is the second time the JUSAG has declared a strike nationwide. In July 2018, the association went on strike over the failure of the government to pay their allowances.
