The Ministry of Energy in Ghana has announced a 12-day power rationing, APA learns here Tuesday.
The Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr. William Owuraku Aidoo, who announced this at a press briefing in Accra on Monday, said that the exercise would enable the Ghana Gas Company to interconnect its systems with the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCO).
On completion, the connection will enable the country to transport surplus gas from Takoradi in the Western Region to Tema in the Greater Accra Region, as a means of ensuring constant availability of gas to the various power generating plants.
Mr. Aidoo apologised to Ghanaians for the inconvenience the exercise may cause them and assured that an initial challenge of inadequate fuel for power generation has been resolved.
Before the announcement, Ghanaians were experiencing some unannounced power rationing, thereby prompting them to enquire whether the power rationing popularly known as “Dumsor Dumsor” has come again.
