Mr. John Dramani Mahama has been sworn in as President of Ghana with the Chief Justice of Ghana, Gertrude Torkernoo, administering the Oath of Office and Allegiance to Mahama on Tuesday in Accra.
In his inaugural address, President Mahama urged the business community and Ghanaians to key into his major campaign slogan, “24 Hour Economic Policy” which according to him, will promote creativity and ensure that the fruits of their investments will contribute to the collective welfare of Ghana.
“We envisage an innovative and vibrant 24 hour economy,” he said, explaining that the 24 hour economy will be anchored on Agriculture and Agribusiness.
Born on November 29, 1958, President Mahama had been President of Ghana in 2012. He was also vice President of Ghana, Minister of Communications and a former Member of Parliament of Ghana.
With his rich political experience, some local analysts believe that President Mahama would strive to pilot the state affairs better by tackling Ghana’s huge debt stock, fight and win the war against illegal mining in Ghana, which has been a major drain on the country’s economy and improve on the energy crisis in Ghana.
Meanwhile, the swearing-in of President Mahama was followed by the first Ghanaian female Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who also took the oath of office as the Vice President of Ghana.
