This has come on the back of its failure to access a $54-million grant from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) of the United States of America to build its capacity for effective power delivery, under the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) Power Compact Agreement signed with the Government of Ghana to improve its electricity distribution sector.
The Daily Graphic reports on Wednesday that the Corporate Communications Manager of NEDCo, Mr. Maxwell Kotoka, told journalists in Tamale that the company had received up to $200 million as pledges from some companies to improve on its operations.
Some of the companies include AB & Davids, $100 million; Techno Electric and Engineering Company, $100 million; Pear River, $10; the World Bank, $1.5 million; and the Swiss State Secretariat Economic Affairs, $1.5 million.
Mr. Kotoka said the management of the company had assured that they had put in place measures to secure additional funding from the MCC to support its bid to improve its services.
