The police in the Volta Region, Ho, have arrested eight persons for planning to break free from the country, APA learns here on Tuesday.
They are Mr. Charles Kormi Kudjordji, 85 years and chairman of the group; Bisa Akorli, 54 years; Kofi Dzreke, 39; Thompson Tsibge, 58; Benjamin Abadzada, 48; Agbenyega Akudzi, 54; Freeman Blikaku, 36; and Nkpe Tsryiri Kudzo, 61.
They had been airlifted from Ho to Accra on Sunday, reports said on Tuesday in Accra.
A joint operation by the military and police gathered that they were holding a meeting to make arrangements for the final declaration of Volta Region of Ghana as an Independent State.
A statement by the police in Accra on Monday said that the leaders of the group had in their possession a constitution, a national emblem and a national anthem, which signified that they were in advanced stage of their plans.
This is the second time the group would be arrested. They were first cautioned and discharged by the law courts for making a similar move recently.
