The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the National Fire Service, have launched an investigation into the fire that broke out early on Tuesday at the Kwashieman School Cluster, where ballot boxes for the Ablekuma North Constituency were stored.
The authorities have strongly condemned the incident and promised that any individual or group involved in the incident would be identified, arrested and prosecuted.
In a statement, they urged the population to remain calm, stressing that investigations are underway to establish the circumstances of the fire.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing post-election unrest across the country, the police announced that they have arrested 132 suspects and that 45 persons had been remanded in custody.
The police added that 71 persons were released on bail and 16 others were under judicial supervision.
