The press in Ghana on Friday focuses on the conviction of policeman for traffic offence and the investor forum initiated by the King of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otunfuo Osei Tutu II.
The Ghanaian Times said that a police officer, General Sergeant Ebenezer Akorli, who ran his unregistered motor cycle into a vehicle belonging to the New Times Corporation (NTC) has been convicted with a fine of GH¢600 ($120) by the La District Court.
Akrofi was convicted after pleading guilty to the offence in the court presided over by Mrs. Juliet Osei-Duedu, on Thursday.
The newspaper said the motor offence led to the assault of three staff of the NTC, namely Mr. Malik Sullemana, a court reporter; Raissa Sambou, gender and human rights reporter and Salifu Abdul-Rahman, assistant senior editor.
The assault after the accident, which Akrofi earlier denied, resulted in the hospitalisation of Raissa, a nursing mother, who suffered a blow to the abdomen and collapsed in the process.
Akfofi, 36 years, was charged for careless and inconsiderate driving and use of motor cycle without licence and insurance policy among others.
The Daily Graphic for her part, says a total of 31 embassies in Accra have officially confirmed their participation in a forum being hosted by the Otumfuo Tutu II dubbed, “World-Meets-In-Ghana Investors’ Forum and Executive Dinner Ball”.
The historic programme is organised by E ON 3 Group, a Ghanaian business solution provision company as part of the 20th anniversary of the investiture of the revered Ashanti King, whose contribution to the development of Ghana has been touted by many eminent citizens of the country.
