The Ghanaian press focuses on the death of six persons in a motor accident at Obretema and the arrest of three Chinese nationals for allegedly operating an illegal quarry at Shai Hills in Accra.
The Ghanaian Times reports that six persons were confirmed dead in an accident at Obretema near Suhum in the Eastern Region on Monday.
The newspaper said that five persons died on the spot, while one person later died at the Suhum Government Hospital.
It explained that the accident occurred when a Benz cargo truck with registration number GE 5764 V, lost control and crashed into a Toyota Tacoma pick-up with registration GS 1312-11.
The Eastern Regional Police Motor Traffic Transport Department (MTTD) Commander, Chief Superintendent Prince Jude, said that another victim, who survived the accident, was on admission in the hospital,
The Daily Graphic says three Chinese nationals have been arrested for operating an illegal quarry at Shai Hills, near Accra on the orders of the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh.
The minister was on tour of a site proposed for a government project and discovered that the three Chinese were operating illegally and they were arrested and handed over to the police.
According to the report, the minister initially demanded for their operating permit which the Chinese failed to produce.
