More than 1,000 physically challenged women have benefitted from government support for boosting their businesses with $800,000 as part of effort to empower them.
The move is part of the Presidential Empowerment for Women Entrepreneurs with disability and the beneficiaries will not be required to pay any interest on the amount disbursed except 50 percent of the main amount they received.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, who witnessed the disbursement of the funds at the Jubilee House, which was executed by the Ministry of Business Development in Accra, expressed delight in the initiative and commended the ministry for the effort to empower women with disabilities.
According to Daily Graphic report on Wednesday, President Akufo Addo said the Ministry of Business Development had set a target of mobilizing 4 million Ghana Cedis for the next two years to support 1000 disabled women in business and they have so far managed to mobilize 2 million cedis for that purpose.
President Nana Addo said he would personally follow their work and possibly visit their work places in due course to monitor progress of work and urged them to work hard to expand their businesses.
