The Ghanaian press on Monday focuses on the call on the West African countries to establish a power market in the sub-region.
The Ghanaian Times reports that the Director of Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Climate Change at the Ghana Energy Commission, Dr. Kofi Adu Agyarko, who made the call, said that such a market would enable power sufficient countries support needy neighbours in the sub-region.
According to him, this old-aged vision is long overdue and must be given critical attention to promote development.
“There is the need for us as West Africa to have our power system connected so that we can trade among ourselves. Some of us may have well endowed resources. Some of us may have well endowed resources in terms of power production where others may not have. So that provides the opportunity to trade among ourselves,” Dr. Agyako said.
The Daily Graphic, for its part, says the “garden city” of Ghana, Accra was fervently preparing to host the country’s independence anniversary, scheduled for Friday March 6, 2020.
