The Daily Graphic says Mr. Martin Alamisi Amidu, the special prosecutor, who made this known, explained that he had to tread cautiously in dealing with such cases baring himself of emotions.
Speaking to the paper in Accra on Monday, Mr. Amidu said his office has been working very hard to ensure that officials of the state found to have indulged in corrupt practices would be prosecuted without failures in court.
“An investigation well done over a period is better than one that is done badly within a short time”, he noted, reacting to some criticisms from the public recently over his inability to prosecute suspected corrupt cases.
Former President Jerry John Rawlings is reported to have asked Mr. Amidu to be quick in jailing corrupt officials.
The Ghanaian Times, for its part, said Ghanaian government has been advised to build strong institutions to consolidate the country’s democracy.
It said Prof. Joseph Atsu Ayee, who made the call, observed that the current state of the institutions “were weak and in crisis” due to fragmentation of such institutions resulting in “overlaps, turf wars and institutional paralysis”.
The Business and Financial Times said Ghana’s Stock Market is expected to record impressive growth in the year 2019 after witnessing a turbulent situation in 2018.
