Ghana’s Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta says that it will take the Ghanaian economy three years to recover from the devastated effects of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, local media reported here on Tuesday.
Ken Ofori Atta has therefore urged Ghanaians to brace themselves for the worst economic conditions ahead. He said unlike the western world economies which were expected to rebound from steep decline within the shortest possible time, African countries, including Ghana are expected to experience the steep decline for two or three years before a gradual recovery.
His comment comes as Covid -19 disease has shattered all sectors of the economy, which forced the government to seek $1 billion interest free loan facility from the International Monetary Fund to address fiscal and balance of payment issues within the year.
