Ghana’s Minister of Health Kwaku Agyeman-Manu has been admitted at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) for coronavirus infection.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said in his 11th Update on Measures Taken Against COVID-19, on Sunday that the Health Minister, 64, was admitted in the hospital last Tuesday and that he was in stable condition.
He disclosed that the minister contacted the virus in the line of duty and wished him speedy recovery.
Local media reports on Monday said that the minister was one of the key officials of government at the forefront in Ghana’s fight against the COVID-19, and that he had not been seen in public since the regular Minister’s Media Briefing on the COVID-19 was last held on May 28.
The reports recalled that at the May 14 briefing, the minister urged Ghanaians to learn to live with the coronavirus because it has come to stay, stressing that the only way to keep the virus away is by observing the protocols.
