The Acting Government Statistician, Mr. David Yenukwa Kombat, who disclosed this to the Ghanaian Times on the sidelines of the press conference in Accra to announce the annual inflation rate, said the increase is about 5.6 million since the year 2010 Population and Housing Census puts the nation’s total population at 24 million.
He further told the newspaper that projected annual rate of 2.5 percent would currently put the population at 30.2 million, saying the population has a youthful outlook.
He noted that indicators from the United Nation’s World Population Review Report (2017) estimates that life expectancy for females in Ghana is 64.2 years whiles that of males is 61.1 years.
He hinted that the processes towards the 2020 National population and Housing Census have started.
