Guinea-Bissau has established diplomatic relations with the Southern Asian country of Maldives on Saturday, APA can report.
A joint communiqué formalizing ties between the two countries was signed on behalf of Maldives by Foreign Affairs minister Abdulla Shahid, and his Bissauguinean counterpart Suzi Carla Barbosa.
Establishing diplomatic relations and cultivating meaningful partnerships with friendly countries to achieve common goals in areas of mutual interest is a key priority of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s foreign policy, the communique said.
The West African nation is the 181st country to establish diplomatic relations with the Maldives.
