The Court of Appeal in Guinea on Thursday ordered for the provisional release of the leaders of the opposition National Front for the Defence of the Constitution (FNDC), including its national coordinator, Abdouramane Sanoh.

Sentenced on October 22, 2019 to terms ranging from six months to five years in prison by the Dixinn and Mafanco Courts of First Instance for “acts and manoeuvres likely to disturb public order,” the defendants will again be brought to trial on 5 December.
Their provisional release was obtained after the prosecution responded favourably to the requests of the defence lawyers’ request.
The FNDC’s national coordinator and some of its leaders were arrested two days before the first demonstration, which took place nationwide on 14 October this year.
For weeks on end, the Guinean opposition and civil society grouped under the National Front for the Defence of the Constitution (FNDC) have been taking ot the streets protesting a proposed amendment to the country’s constitution which will allow President Alpha Condé to run for a third term.
