Ibrahima Diallo, an activist and influential member of the National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC), was turned away by border police at Conakry’s Ahmed Sekou Toure international airport, where he boarded his flight to Niger on Thursday morning. The officers, referring to their hierarchy, refused him categorically.
According to the FNDC, Ibrahima Diallo was due to take part, on behalf of Guinean civil society, in a forum of social movements organized in Niamey from June 02 to 04, 2023, “on the restriction of civic space in Africa.”
In its press release, the FNDC’s National Coordination recalls that to date, the activist has not been served with any court decision banning him from Guinean territory.
“The FNDC denounces this umpteenth attack on the movement’s leaders and calls on pro-democracy citizens to remain mobilized in defense of public freedoms and for a return to constitutional order in our country,” the coordination said.
At the end of the Ordinary Council of Ministers, the Minister Spokesman recalled that they (FNDC leaders) “are on parole,” having left prison on May 17, 2023.
“Ibrahima Diallo, Fonike Mengue and their fellow prisoners are still under warrant. Legal proceedings are underway. The warrant prohibits them from traveling outside Conakry without the express authorization
by the judge,” explained Ousmane Gaoual Diallo, Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy, spokesman for the transitional government.
