India’s Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri V. Muraleedharan is expected in Zimbabwe on Monday for the start of a southern African tour that will also see him visit Malawi.
According to a statement from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Muraleedharan would pay an official visit to Zimbabwe on Monday and Tuesday before leaving for Malawi for another two-day visit on Wednesday.
“India shares excellent bilateral relations with both Zimbabwe and Malawi ranging across political, economic, cultural and development assistance fields, which have particularly strengthened in the past few years,” the statement said.
During his visit to Zimbabwe, the minister is expected to call on President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Foreign and International Trade Minister Frederick Shava to discuss “various matters to enhance mutual cooperation.”
In Malawi, Muraleedharan is due to meet President Lazarus Chakwera and hold talks with Foreign Minister Nancy Tembo.
The minister “will also meet a wide cross-section of the Indian community in both the countries and participate in events marking ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations during the visit” and review progress of development projects supported by the Indian government in Malawi and Zimbabwe.
