The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Tunis has announced its continued commitment to providing humanitarian aid to vulnerable migrants, with a particular focus on addressing their needs during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to InfoMigrants, a significant increase in migrants from sub-Saharan Africa have benefited from the IOM’s “voluntary return” program in Tunisia. In 2024, the program assisted 7,250 migrants, compared to just over 2,250 in 2023.
This initiative, implemented in collaboration with the Tunisian Red Crescent and other local partners, highlights the growing efforts to support migrants in the region.
IOM Tunisia recently conducted awareness campaigns in El Amera, in the Sfax region, in partnership with the Tunisian Red Crescent and regional authorities. These campaigns aimed to inform migrants about options for voluntary assisted return and reintegration programs.
The IOM’s efforts are part of a broader strategy to enhance migrants’ access to essential services and provide tailored assistance based on their individual needs, especially during the month of Ramadan.
