The Iranian government has expressed shock and dismay over the fatal explosion of an fuel tanker in the Nigerien capital Niger.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi issued a statement on Tuesday saying Tehran is deeply touched by the tragedy.
In his Tuesday statement, Mousavi offered condolences and sympathy to the Nigerien nation and government, particularly the families of the victims of the incident.
The explosion killed and wounded dozens of people as they attenpted to scoop fuel from an overturned tanker. on Sunday.
According to a twitter post by Interior minister Mohamed Bazoum, 37 people were injured by the blast.
