Ivorian journalist, Jean-Baptiste Essis, died Tuesday in Abidjan after a long illness, according to close confidantes.
“He passed away on Tuesday, as he was being whisked away to the clinic, but there, people said they could not take him in, asking his family to go to the University Hospital (CHU). When they arrived at the CHU, the family was told that he was already dead,” a source close to the deceased told APA.
Mr. Jean-Baptiste Essis worked for ‘Le Temps’, a daily newspaper close sympathetic to the opposition, especially former president Laurent Gbagbo.
He was working as a freelance before his death.
