From November 27 to December 2, 2024, Abidjan will be the world capital of extractive and energy resources.
The Ivorian Ministry of Mines, Oil and Energy announces the first edition of the International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources (SIREXE), approved by the Council of Ministers on April 17.
Under the theme “Sustainable development of extractive and energy industries: what policies and strategies?”, SIREXE 2024 will be held from November 27 to December 2, 2024 at the Abidjan Exhibition Center.
This show will bring together players from the mining, oil and energy sectors from around the world, offering unique opportunities for collaboration, exchange and investment.
The event is organised under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, Mr. Robert Beugré Mambé, and will honour Norway, recognised for its expertise in hydrocarbons and energy technologies.
SIREXE 2024 aims to encourage international, regional and national private investments in the extractive and energy resources sectors, thus creating a platform for exchange and collaboration.
The Minister of Oil and Energy, Mr. Sangafowa-Coulibaly, said: “We must highlight the continent’s potential and attract investments to stimulate our economies.”
According to a statement to APA, this initiative is part of the vision of President Alassane Ouattara, who underlined during his June 8th speech to the nation that: “The exceptional wealth of our subsoil must be the engine of sustained and sustainable growth of our economy”.
He also mentioned the recent discovery of the Baleine and Calao oil and gas fields, which will help make Côte d’Ivoire an energy powerhouse and a hub in the sub-region, while protecting the environment.
SIREXE 2024 will be open to the general public, offering a unique opportunity to learn about the challenges of the extractive and energy sectors through fun activities and interactive presentations.
The promotion of local content will also be a central part of the effort, aiming to present career opportunities for Ivorian youth and business opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
