APA-Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) The Ivorian Prime Minister, Minister for Sport and the Living Environment, Robert Mambe, on Thursday February 1, 2024 in Abidjan, met with the Executive Vice-President of the Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Yamada Junichi.
“Côte d’Ivoire is an important country for JICA in Africa. We hope to be able to continue and extend cooperation,” said Mr. Yamada Junichi, who stressed the need to strengthen relations between his institution and Côte d’Ivoire.
“Last year, we committed to three loan projects totalling $400 million (241.56 billion CFA francs). This is one of the largest cooperation envelopes in sub-Saharan Africa,” he added.
JICA, the independent government agency that coordinates Japan’s official development assistance, opened its office in Côte d’Ivoire in 1992. Its mission is to support the economic and social development of developing countries and promote international cooperation.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency supports developing countries in areas such as agriculture, education, health, infrastructure and drinking water supply.
