President Paul Kagame on Tuesday appointed Beata Habyarimana as Rwanda’s new Trade minister in a mild cabinet reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente Ngirente.
Habyarimana replaces Soraya Hakuziyaremye, who was appointed Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Rwanda.
The new appointee is an economist and has background in the financial sector having worked in Bank of Africa, Agaseke Bank and Banque Populaire Du Rwanda.
Other changes were made in the ministry of Local administration where Prof. Anastase Shyaka was replaced by JMV Gatabazi, a former senior local administrative official in Northern Province.
Prof Shyaka was serving as minister of Local Government since 2018.
Prior to his appointment as Minister of Local Government, Prof Anastase Shyaka was the Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Governance Board since 2011.
He also served as the Executive Secretary of the Rwanda Governance Advisory Council from 2008 to 2011.
