Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Thursday received the son of former Chadian president and currently cabinet chairman, Abdelkerim Déby.
Chad’s cabinet chairman, Abdelkerim Déby visited Rwanda for a series of meetings, including with Intelligence Chief, Maj.Gen. Joseph Nzabamwita and Rwandan Foreign Affairs minister, Dr Vincent Biruta.
Reports indicate that the two sides discussed bilateral “cooperation in intelligence, security and economics.”
The late Chadian president Idriss Déby was killed last month while directing an offensive against the armed group FACT, which had entered Chad through southern Libya.
Current Chadian interim head of state General Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno who is also the son of the late president surrounded himself with fourteen other generals to compose the transitional military council (CMT).
The rebel forces who have been blamed for Deby’s death have also vowed to press on with their offensive, categorically rejecting the transition arrangement.
