Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for health, Mutahi Kagwe, on Wednesday confirmed that three more patients have tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing total to seven.
Addressing the media in Nairobi, Kagwe said that a couple arrived in the country on March 4 via Spain through Dubai and screened at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
He said a Burundian national who arrived in the country via Dubai on 17 March was picked by a surveillance team at JKIA.
The Cabinet Secretary for health confirmed that 18 cases are currently admitted an Isolation centre in Nairobi while, seven others have been screened and are negative.
“Samples from the remaining 11 suspected cases are currently being tested,” he said.
Kenya confirmed its first Covid-19 case last Friday. President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday ordered the immediate closure of all public schools as well as suspended travel for all people coming into Kenya from any country with Covid-19.
