APA – Kigali (Rwanda) – Kenyan runners in both men and women categories on Sunday dominated the 18th edition of Kigali International Peace Marathon which aims at promoting peace through sports.
George Onyancha won the 42km full Marathon run in men category after clocking 2h16’36” while Margaret Agaialso won full marathon in women category within 2h17’41”.
His compatriot Silas Kiprotich Kurui who clocked 2h18’11” and David Kipkorir (2h18’43”) finished in second and third place, respecively.
About 10,000 runners participated in the event, which also included half marathon, 21km and 10km run for peace.
Ethiopian Muluhebt Tsega won the women’s full marathon at 2:35:17, ahead of Charop Sharon Jemutai of Kenya at 2:36:05 and Ethiopia’s Jemal Amid Foyza in 3:36:08.
Kennedy Kipyeko of Kenya won the men’s half marathon race at 1:05:52, while his compatriots Mburu John finished second 1:03:54 and Kipkorir Evans (1:04:12).
Kenyan Moseti Winfridah Moraa won the women’s half-marathon at 1:12:40, ahead of her compatriot Lilian Lelei Jepkemboi (1:13:36) while Susan Chambai Aramisi finished in the third place after 1:13:36
