Former Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki died on Friday, April 22, 2022 at the age of 90, state television announced on its Twitter page.
Mwai Kibaki led Kenya from 2002 to 2013. He had replaced at the head of the country Daniel arap Moi, who died on February 4, 2020.
“This is a sad day for us as a country. We have lost a great leader, former President Mwai Kibaki,” said his successor and current President Uhuru Kenyatta in a solemn announcement broadcast on television.
