Genocide suspect, Venant Rutunga who was extradited from The Netherland since July last year is set to return to court for the continuation of the hearing of hi cases in substance, a judicial source revealed Monday.
The 72-year-old had lived in the European country for over a decade according to judicial source.
He is being tried by the High Court Chamber for International and Cross Border Crimes (HCCIC) in Nyanza, Southern Rwanda.
The prosecution’s file indicates that he committed the alleged crimes between April 26 and 30, 1994 in the former Butare Prefecture.
During the Genocide, he was working as the Regional Director of the Rwanda Agricultural Research Institute (ISAR-Rubona) and used his position to commit a number of actions that led to loss of many lives, especially of former employees of the institution he was leading.
