The Ghana Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) has arrested a 38-year old Lebanese, Darwich Hussein, for attempting to travel to Beirut, Lebanon with $1.4 million from the Kotoka International Airport on Monday.
The Daily Graphic report on Wednesday said that Hussein also had in his possession 256,000 euros, all stashed in his bag
The Executive Secretary of the NACOB, Mr. Francis Torkonoo, who confirmed the story, said that Darwich was arrested during the departure formalities, when he appeared to be in a hurry, raising suspicion among the officers on duty.
Upon reaching the NACOB check point, the security officers requested to check his luggage and found neatly packed parcels covered with T-shirts.
Upon further search, they uncovered the sums of monies in dollars and euro bills, and Hussein was arrested and detained.
He, however, could not be straightforward on the source of the funds and would be processed for court after investigations.
