APA-Maseru (Lesotho) Lesotho’s Prime Minister Samuel Matekane has reshuffled his cabinet in a move that saw him appointing five new ministers and moving some to other portfolios.
Newly appointed cabinet members are Nqosa Mahao who was appointed Energy minister, Motlatsi Maqelepo (Tourism, Arts and Culture), Tseliso Mokhosi (Labour and Employment), Letsama Adontsi (Environment and Forestry) and Mphuthi Mphuthi (Public Service).
Mahao’s appointment saw the energy portfolio being moved away from the Ministry of Natural Resources which has until now been responsible for energy and water issues.
Mokhethi Shelile is now in charge of the streamlined Ministry of Trade, Industry and Small Business. He was previously Ministry of Trade and Industry, Business Development and Tourism.
Putsoa Lesaoana is the new Minister of Gender, Youth and Social Development while Richard Ramoeletsi was moved from the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Employment to become Minister of Law and Justice.
The five newly appointed ministers were sworn-in at a ceremony administered by acting Chief Justice Tseliso Monaphathi at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Wednesday.
