The Liberia national soccer team, Lone Star, Wednesday night defeated the national soccer team of Sierra Leone 3 goals to one in the first round of the preliminary rounds of the 2022 World Cup.
Liberia’s first goal was scored by Terrence Tisdell in the 18th minute of the first half of the match through a penalty kick. The second goal was scored by Mohammed Sangare in the 82nd minute also through a penalty kick, while the third goal was scored by Sam Johnson in the 89th minute.
Sierra Leone’s lone goal was scored by Kwame Quee in the 56th minute. The return leg will be played in Freetown, Sierra Leone on Sunday, September 8. The aggregate winner will progress to the group stage of the 2022 World Cup qualifier.
Last night’s game was witnessed by former World Best Player, President George Maneh Weah, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Bhofal Chambers and other high ranking government officials.
